1. (a) A large manufacturing company follows an elaborate procedure for purchasing, storing and bill payment. For realizing payment of bill, a supplier has to maintain liaison with various departments and sometimes with various persons of the same department, viz., Production Planning and Control, Vendor Rating. Purchase, Stores, Inspection, Bill Payment, Cash Department, etc. Because of the frequent visits necessary and time delay in realizing payment, small suppliers are losing business interest. This is reflected by higher procurement prices and negative growth of ancillary industries. You are required to advise the company on:
(i)Benefits of re-organising the procedures to minimize contact points:
(ii)Effect on internal control system;
(iii)Problems to be encountered in course of such changes.
